I am a recipeint of a kidney and pancreas and I am looking for advice and have a question about donation. My first question is about contact. I volunteered for the Illinois Kidney Foundation to talk to high Schools and most of the other speaker's made contact with the donor families. One preturbed me about their handling of it. So I want to ask the donor famlies, How do you feel about the recipeints contacting you? Not sure how to word this exactly, but I am not sure how to feel or what to do about contacting the donor family. I have no idea what other donor families feel and do not want to upset anyone at the same time. My other question is about donation. The information I was given by the Illinois Kidney Foundation did not go into detail about how to donate. My feeling is that the hospital should not go up and ask a family, but my question is more on can you specify what you want to donate of a loved one and to whom (people or research). I do not want to upset anyone, just want to know more.
