Posted by Sheila The main thing that has helped my other daughter and I get thru this is the fact we found out who the kidney recipients were due to news reports ... it was a father and daughter and was the first time a single donor has made the gift of life to two closely-related people. Although I haven't met them yet, it is such a blessing to really know what a difference Melissa's gift has made and how truly wonderful and thankful they are. I'm new to this forum, altho not new to transplants. My husband, Jim, was a tissue/eye donor when he was killed in a four-wheeler accident on April 2, 1995. He was 35 years old. This past June, my oldest daughter, Melissa, became an organ donor (kidneys & liver) when she was killed in an accident. She was just a few weeks away from her 21st birthday.
