Dear Emma's Mom, Emma's story is so touching. I cried and smiled. What a strong little girl, and what a wonderful mom!!! I hope little Emma Grace is doing well and I wish all the best for her and your family. I can't even imagine how awful that must have been while you were pregnant, for the doctor to tell you to go home and wait for the kicks to stop. That thought is unbearable. I just had my 3rd child last August and the pregnancy was very emotional for me after losing my son the year before. I can't imagine going through what you have. You sound so strong, you should be very proud of yourself and your little girl, what a survivor. It sounds like the transplant when well, I hope. I know when Alexandria, my son's recipient, was sick, her heart was enlarged, 5 times its normal size, and when they transplanted my Max's heart, it was like putting a plum into a hole the size of a cantalope. Allie's chest was indented for a while but the doctors told her mom that she would grow with Max's heart to fit just right. Allie had a virus in her heart from just after she was born. She was fighting for her life from nearly the begining also. Immediately following her transplant, she was looking better and feeling better. She looked like a different baby all together by the time she left the hospital, a few weeks later.
Thank you for sharing Emma Grace's story here. How is she doing now? How are you doing? I hope you are taking care of yourself also, it is very important for our little ones that we are at our best. I would love to hear more about Emma. Hugs to you for your strength and to little Emma for her courage. Carolyn- Max's mommy.
