Hi Kerry, I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imaging loosing two children like that. I lost my son in March of 2000 to drowning also. We donated his organs as well and he saved 3 lives. We were so devastated by loosing our son and were gratefull that we could make the choice to donate for him. Knowing that he could help others gave his life more purpose for us. We were lucky enough to meet his heart recipient. She was a little girl and she has had an amazing life because of our gift. We couldn't be more proud of our son for helping her and of her for being strong and living. She just passed away after 8 years and it has been very sad for us. Sad because we wish she would have had more time and sad because our son's heart no longer beats. What I remind myself of is that his heart stopped beating 8 years ago and she brought it back, his heart became hers and now they are both gone. It is very sad and I want you to know that wether or not you ever meet or know of the recipients, it is enough to know that you have donated to save lives. If all you can think about is knowing, than maybe you shouldn't seek them out because it may end up dissapointing. If they get sick, or if your son's organs don't take the transplant, or wether the family wants any contact with you or not, these are all things to consider. I know from talking with recipients over the past 8 years that most of them are afraid of contacting the donor families. I understand why. After loosing our son and now the recipient has passed, it is like loosing someone all over again, even though she wasn't ours, her heart wasn't ours. My heart goes out to you and hope that you find a way to move on. You are able to write to the recipients through the organization where you donated, but it is up to them wether they respond and you are not allowed any information. I am sorry but that is the way it is for a reason. Please take care. I tried to look up your sons website, but it wasn't there. I would love the link again.
