I've got a little something that you'd love. Little bitty malted poodle boy, playful, ultra smart, human-oriented but looooooooooves other dogs (and they love him in return), sugar sweet. Put together pretty nicely. I'm smitten.

He arrived with a pal. Little schnoodley guy. Also very, very sweet.

I lost Rea the cocker pup a week ago. She had a massive seizure in the middle of the night, there was nothing I could do. Last night, I lost two of her "littermates". Horrible. They crashed suddenly and were gone within about 8-10 hours of exhibiting the first symptoms. Pneumonia. The suddenness of the crash and the lack of response to any kind of treatment has me worried that they may be feline leukemia positive. The other two are OK for now, and on a prophylactic course of a strong antibiotic.
They're really still a couple of weeks too young to test for this horrible, contagious, and inevitably fatal disease but, if they stay healthy, I think I'm going to have to run them in the end of the week and get them tested. If they test positive I'm not sure what I'll do. There's a small chance they could fight it off, but there's a greater chance they'd become persistently infected. I'd have to decide if I'd rather have the heartbreak now, or in a few months when I'd gotten even more attached.
One bright spot - Goosie the beagle baby went to her new home yesterday. Got an update today, she's settling in well and she and her new canine brother - a 2.5 year old puggle boy - are already playmates and friends.
