Also, in my experience, most pet dogs haven't a clue about "pack". Especially most little lap dogs who believe they're tiny humans in fur coats. Example: we took in an O/S 12-pound YT (yup, 12 pounds) last week who, finding herself inserted into a small "pack" of similarly-sized, ultra-congenial dogs who have the run of the house, is sure she's died and gone to Hell. She's horrified. "I'm not a dog, I'm a people!! Why am *I* forced to be among these furry beasts? I don't BELONG here, Calgon take me AWAY!!" She'll get it, if she stays with us long enough (and I sincerely hope she doesn't, she's spayed, UTD, and could go to a new home today), but she's going to be very unhappy until she does.
OK, off to pick up a bushel of pickling cukes, then home to can the rest of the peaches. Pickles have to soak overnight so I'll do dills tomorrow, bread and butter pickles on Saturday if I can't get to them tomorrow, too. I fiddled with my peach salsa recipe and it turned out SO good (10 pints and a half) I'm going to be reserving some of the rest of the peaches for another small batch.
