Do you think it's too early to get a puppy? msg

Dirk had his procedure last Wednesday and this morning was the first morning he got out of bed and came down under his own steam for breakfast. Right now he's wandering the living room hoping I'll take him, and Tofi, for a ride.

I have 2 16 year old cats. Tofi is 14. But I want to train and show something in obediance and rally. I'm training Dirk for the eventuality of being blind (swapping out verbal commands for hand signals, which he prefers).

Am I being selfish or should I wait until the seniors go to the bridge? It could be years before I get a puppy.
