Advice on food aggression

My sisters Golden is 6 years old. She said the last two days, he has become food agressive with her. Not the other dog, who eats right next to him. But she said if she touches his back, he turns and snarls at her. He was to the vet for a regular check up monday, so we dont think its anything medical. He has never done this before.

I told her to beat the crap out of him. IM JUST KIDDING!!! Well, I did say it, but her and I know that I was kidding and that is how we talk to each other. Kind of a blowing off steam thing for us LOL

I did say to make him start working for everything he wants. NILIF. (But isnt he too old for the "Im gonna try and be bossy", thing?) Making him back up and sit and wait to eat. I also suggested hand feeding him for the next couple of meals and seeing if that makes a difference.

Any suggestions for us? What is your opinion about the hand feeding thing?
