It's hard to believe he just had his 13th birthday!
Two of his relatives have died recently - each at the age of 16 - so I have hope the the little guy is gonna be with me for a while yet. Still, I read eup's accounts of how Lazer is doing these days, and my heart just aches - both for her sake, as well as for the sake of "there but for the grace of God . . . . . "
In addition to switching him to homemade last year, I also keep his weight under strict control. As a result, he still gallops and bounces along like he always has. No one who watches him move can believe he's a 13 year old dog! I know the day is coming when he will begin to stiffen up and slow down, but it hasn't happened yet.
The most significant age-related thing that's occurred is a slight elevation in his kidney values. But I switched him to a raw diet I found on the page I directed Tom's Mom to in another post, and his values appear to be coming down nicely. We'll do a more complete blood workup in April to see how he looks,
Thanks for asking about my little old puppy man! And hugs to your crew all around!
