I think it's important to take her places - how else will she keep from becoming "institionalized" from always being at home, after all? Yet at the same time, you're right that the stress is probably pretty hard on her. Have you ever looked in TTouch by Linda Tellington-Jones? They use it a lot on horses, so you might be familiar with it in that context, but folks use it on dogs, too.
