As to cgc (canine great companion, no canine good citizen- who makes a great canine companion btw *G*) I believe all jmm's malts are certified, sanctified and trained to the doggie smarts max. One is a (stand by) service dog and detects germs, others have done agility and/or obedience and are titled and of course they are all um etc. *G* It's always the "etc" that gets us- with any toy dog breed. So much to know, so many twinkleheads hawking teacups. LOL
I do take mine own cracked teacup (pfft- no such thing) to senior centers (a euphemism for geezer warehouse) and also kiddie clinics where sick tots drip and are on drips - but not too often now as my pack of toys is becoming the canine eqiv of cranky old men. (even though they are gals. vbg.)
Malts and Toy Poodles for that matter (What is the matter/topic? I've no idea, but let's carry on.) are smart breeds capable of anything larger breeds might do- only on a smaller scale. Speaking of scale, my dental mental case weighed in yesterday at the vets office (kah-ching central dogge repair and motorcycle tuneup) at four pounds and fourteen ounces. A porker. *G* This makes for some delicate tuneups with skilled docs. Not all vets are toy savvy, imho. There's another thing to add to your "worry wart" um osity.
As to zoonotic diseases, (a fancy-smancy word meaning germs we humans may enjoy along with our dogs, instead of a germ who likes either one or the other as party host- pfft) there is a long list. That is not as much my concern as are the germs and horrors lurking in off lead dog parks- for toys- including giant untrained dogs and their idiotic owners- I am non pc on this topic as many think off lead dog parks are better than sliced bread- sliced and diced dread- imho for Malts, TP's and other wee ones. Egad.
But yes in deed you can certify your Malt a la CGC and other canine training - and should. I don't. I'm a fool who trains my own dogs because I think I do an all right job from decades of messing up their small minds. ROFL . IE- egad.
Your mom's bichon group sounds like Small Paws org- mega network of rabid Bichon fanciers doing good for the Bichon blitzers. (their word often for what we poodle folks call zoomies.) I'm going to go get you that thing we all tish about and roll our eyes over- More links. O fear and loathing. Oh research and delving. Make it stop!! LOL You're doing great- really. This sort of stuff is exactly why folks say "uncle" and go to funkle bile's pet emporium - there to pick up a forty pound teacup Maltapoo with um- papers. I admire the cut of your gib- carrying on and attempting to do it the right way (don't ask me what that is- Oh yes- reputable breeder, rescue or um etc. *G* Lemme go get links.
