Hi everyone,
I'll try to keep this short! I'm going to pick up my 8 week-old male beagle pup in a couple of weeks (waited a long time for the right one, at the right time, from the right breeder!) who will be added to my family, which already has a 6 year-old female beagle in it.
The resident beagle was a rescue and I haven't had the pleasure of raising a puppy myself, though I have worked with them very much during my time employed at a vet hospital and vet college (kennel staff and animal care type work).
So I'm nervous! I've done all the reading I can, have Before and After You Get Your Puppy and will certainly have my breeder to run to for advice, but I'm always open to new resources. Namely anything to do with socializing a new puppy to an adult resident dog - I've had a hard time finding satisfactory reading on this subject.
So if you can think of any great articles/books that I should read before the pup comes home, or have any general advice, I would appreciate it lots and lots!
Thank you in advance!
