Economic euthanasia is a phenomenon we'll probably start seeing a lot more of in this country if things keep going on this way. What is "economic euthanasia"? It's a term used to describe the situation where a RESPONSIBLE owner has a pet who is suffering, where the owner realizes that their financial situation makes it impossible for them to cover the cost of veterinary care to relieve that suffering, and that the only responsible and humane choice left to them is to relieve that suffering through euthanasia.
Economic euthanasia is an incredibly heart-wrenching choice for an owner who loves their pet and doesn't want to let go. But it's a choice that sometimes has to be made in order to live up to the responsibility that we as owners accept when we take on the care of these living beings who rely on us for everything.
