The AKC does not certify trainers.
These online progams are often just money makers for the company - trust me, I mentor for one and honestly, I am shocked how little most of the "grads" know and then suddenly they become "certified" trainers. You do not have to be certified to be a trainer. (And I mentor to show how little these kids know after they spend thousands of dollars to hopefully graduate and get that certification).
If you want to become certified, join an organization such as the APDT or IAABC and then go for something like a CPDT certification.
Now, these tests are NOT cheap, you will have to travel to take the test and then take courses throughout the year to keep up your CME's/CMU's.
Many of us trainers are financially unable to keep up with the cost of the tests and classes. It is not like you can go down to your local college and take a class. So keep this in mind.
