I could not get to the computer as Doug had to work on a class and some manuals as he had to drive to NC this morning (up at 4 and should be home by 10 - I said if he is too tired he is to get a hotel room). Bhut he was modifying until about 9pm last night and I had a client to read the riot act to - again...
Ravyn's first safety demo yesyerday afternoon went great.
I did not ask much of her as I had the older dogs with me. I just wanted her to come along, observe the kids and interact a bit.
She went into the library fine, was a bit apprehensive - well 45 kids and one who was handicapped physically and mentally can be a lot and she is still a pup - when the kids started to enter the room. I was thrilled that the kids followed the rules and came in quietly and sat down where Connor indicated. That helps. Sometimes I get MOBBED and kids who will not settle down.
Within moments, apprehension turned to curiosity. Sarah had D'Argo and demonstarted some things with him for me.
I think as Ravyn matures more, she will integrate fine.
In the next few years I know D'Argo and Seven will be retiring. We also have to start thinking about a large dog to integrate in. I am limited to four dogs and I have four.
But I have high hopes for Ravyn to take over eventually. She is small and great for kids who have dog fears. I like to work with ideally a large and a smaller dog. No matter how tolerant a dog seems when training, the real test is will they do the same in the real world.
Seven, will be 8 soon, definite senior for a Pyr and she is starting to show her age a bit. But she walked in and settled back into the routine of lots of kids and then greeting everyone in the library.
