They are also gaining in popularity (and there is one in the Underdog movie that was just released) so they do show up in rescue a bit. The coats are pretty wash and wear (a friend of mine breed and shows) and the worst care is the fuzzy ears.

But the rest of the dog is lower maintenance compared to many breeds.
