It's fun kind of strange.
I always had a soft spot for the GoBots. In my area, they came out just before the Transformers. They were smaller than the Transformers, and a little fragile, for a toy for boys. Plus, the Transformers had a much better cartoon.
Anyway, this is a one man show from Tom Sciola. It's a bit strange. The layout is a lot like an old Steve Ditko Charlton issue, with 9 panels on some pages. The art is okay, but nothing really special. There's no pin up pages, so we get more meat than in many modern comics, but Ditko made each panel memorable, which is a lot harder than it looks. Most panels lack background.
The story is a bit shallow. The GoBots are shedding their programming that compels them to obey humans, and under the leadership of Cy-Kill, a former robot gladiator, are trying to take over the world. Nothing is really explained about how this happens, it just does. Sometimes, things actually do happen that way, but I think this needs explaining.
Not bad, could be better.
