He a hard charging forest fire fighter. When a large fire is set off to facilitate a prison break, led by William Forsythe. Howie has to stop the prisoners, rescue a lady, and hopefully not get burnt to death in the process.
A good debut for Howie. I don't think the movie did all that well at the theatres, but did very well in video tapes and cable. Too bad it was one and done.
I've seen most of those, but Michael Pare had a great death scene in Maximum Conviction.
After several years without them, two new die Hard ripoffs will be released this summer, Sky Scraper with Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, and Final Score starring Pierce Brosnan and Dave Bautista.
Here are some lesser known ripoffs you might not be familiar with:
Command Performance: Dolph Lundgren plays a biker/rocknroll drummer giving a performance for the Russian premier (who knew Putin liked metal) when terrorists take over the arena. Directed by Dolph, this is as a DTV movie that was so good they released it theatrically.
Maximum Conviction: Steves Seagal and Austin team up to close out a prison, when a CIA agent is let into the prison with an implant that contains 50 million dollars, and a team of mercs, led by Michael Pare, are out to get the dough.
Red Wolf: Chinese rip off of Speed 2, itself a Die Hard ripoff has terrorists take over a strangely unoccupied cruise ship, and a former cop and his pickpocket lady love have to save the ship.
The Last Hour: Shannon Tweed is kidnapped and taken to a high rise. Her husband, and her ex- (Michael Pare) team up to rescue her.
Time Game: This one is hard to find...Peter O'Brian, best known for starring in the Indonesian action flick, Rambu, stars as one man out to stop terrorists in a tall building. Oh, and there's a bomb.
Any other fun examples?
