How true!
Often we humans turn to false gods and make sacrifices that please us. We’ll give up our hard earned money to get close to the obsessions we feel are meaningful and relevant to our lives.
God wants us to recognize Him as the one and only, the true God. And he wants our hearts.
(Psalms 51:17 NIV) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
Rather than giving Him what we think He wants. David is calling us to give Him what He wants.
