Open Star 2-1 Dish Cloth question

I am a new knitter and I'm confused about these instructions. It says to *yfwd* K3 and then slip the first stitch over the next two. Is *yfwd* the same as yarn over? If it's not the same, then by the end of the row I have 25 stitches instead of 33. If it does mean to YO, then slipping the first would have to go over 6 stitches. I'm confused. Thanks for any advice.
