Here's what I do, don't know if it is right or wrong but mine looked alright.
Do NOT bind off.Cut yarn leaving long tail, take your darning needle & run the long thread through your sts (I run the needle through as I'm taking them off)pull the thread tight to draw up the center than sew up the seam. Good Luck!
