baby bottom washcloths

To Patti in Connell Wa; you mentioned using a 'spool' of cotton yarn to make baby washcloths for your grandchildren. Where would I find it at? Also, what size needles did you use? New grandbaby arriving in May and thought I might try those. Thank you for your help. Maggie in Iowa
