Posted by Carole Schmidt If you are a beginner, this is a bit of a difficult pattern, as you have to do some math each row. Eg. In row 1 you added 4 sts-- the 2 YO's and the 2 extra in the center st. The 2nd row has 9 + 4= 13.

It's not difficult Stacey. Are you familiar with knitting into the front & back of a single st. to do an increase? In this case K in front, then in back, then in front again. Voila, 3 sts in the center st. The center st. would be the 5th st in
the 1st row ( 4 before and 4 after).
