I just mentioned Spidey, fwiw. Anyway, it's not the simplicity of the origin that's important, but how it impacts the character. Take a look at the complete run of 'Tales of Suspense' and see how often Iron-Man's origin is referenced. Almost never, and then in a panel or two. His situation, needing the chestplate to survive, is central to the narrative but exactly how he got that way is essentially superfluous.
In Spidey's case his origin and what happens shortly after he gets his powers defines the character and is constantly referred to throughout the now zillion year run of the uncountable comics. It makes him who and what he is.
Iron-Man, otoh, is a rich guy with a bum ticker in a metal suit. Ten minutes tops.
Twelve in the DVD.
Fifteen in the "director's cut".
