Hello. My Name is David George, I'm a historian specialising in 19th Century political radicalism. I'm currently trying to track down the later life of a man named Thomas Durrel Powell Hodge who was involved in the attempt on the life of French Emperor Louis Napoleon in 1858. His connection to the Blake Clan is |
"Thomas Durell Powell Hodge^ of Lincoln's Inn, gentleman, only son and heir of Thomas Stoke Hodge, late of Sidmouth, surgeon, by Anne Durell his wife, eldest dau. of John Blake late of Belmont, co. Galway, gent, to take the name of Blake only, instead of Hodge, and bear the arms of Blake."
Does anyone know anything about this man and what his taking the ams of Blake meant?
