Bit of a conundrum. |
At first glance, it seems unlikely that parents would register 2 different childrenís birth in 2 consecutive quarters.
Again at first glance, I would say that the son on the 1881 census is William John Friend. He is William J in 1871.
Pamela seems to be on the 1871 twice, once with husband James (as Friend) and once with her mother (as Harris, but shown as married). No sign of a son James.
James and Pamela baptise 2 sons in Peter Tavy in 1872, Wlliam Henry and John. The birth of William Henry seems to have been registered under a motherís maiden name of Harris (Pamelaís stepfatherís name) in 1872.
Going back to William John born in 1870, his birth seems to have been registered as both Antorn and Friend.
I wonder if James Friend was re-registered as William John once his parents were married. He then becomes John for some reason. Getting the birth cert would give his date of birth, of course.
I donít think that the marriage in 1889 is connected. I think that John James Friend was born in Lifton in 1868.
