Will of William Shepherd of Sherford Yeoman, died 4.3.1845, proved 2.5.1845 gives Thomas Kevill of Sherford as executor. William signed with a mark.
Wife mentioned but not named, gets the house they were living in plus income from 3 properties plus land and yards, for life, then the same goes to the two daughters, Elizabeth Edwards and Susan Elliott.If either of them dies then their share goes to their children.
This is what makes me question whether this is the right William Shepherd. There is no mention of Maria. Is she dead by 1845? No mention of her children
This will ties up with the William Shepherd who had independent means on the census.
It was a struggle to find the entry, but I did!!
page 293, in the alphabetical section of Devon probate records. Fairly straightforward to read, once you get your eye in!!!
Hope this helps, perhaps more research re Maria needed to tie it all together.
