If William Day was 62 on his death in 1835 this would give a birth around 1773. I see from the Plymouth St Andrew registers (not Stoke Damerel) that in the William Day/Catherine Burchell entry for 1802, William is described as 'of the Invalids'. I assume that the Invalids were a battalion formed of old soldiers no longer fit for active service. Doesn't seem likely that the subject William Day would be eligible at just 29 years old.
