Our GGGG g'father John Rothery was a shipwright in the Royal Navy at Woolwich, Portsmouth, Halifax and north America. He married Hannah Bridges 27 March 1749, Saint Luke, Old Charlton, Kent, England. They are both buried in St Andrews Church, Stoke Damerel before it was destroyed in WWII. They had 3 sons, John Carpenter Rothery (bapt 15 Oct 1753, St Mary Magdalene, London) , Nicholas Phillips Rothery, Bapt 17 Sept 1755, St Andrews Church, Stoke Damerel, and Thomas Rothery, Bapt 10 May 1757 at Antony, Cornwall and St Andrews Church the next day. Nicholas Phillips died Hastings, UK but his children migrated to Australia in 1830 on the ship Sovereign. John Carpenter went back to Long Island, New York after 1800 and died there in 1804. John Rothery later married Judith Bligh 15 March 1785 at St Andrews Church, Stoke Damerel and died 22 Feb 1801 and buried St Andrews Church Bedford Street buried ground.
1. Trying to establish GGGG G'father John's birthplace which at his marriage he states Gosport, Hampshire.
2. Any hints or info for Thomas Rothery his son.
Being a Royal Navy family they went everywhere.
Related families are Icely and Henn Gennys from Plymouth. Are there any English relatives out there? Best wishes Barry Jensen
