Raging Blue is spot on with his message below - the Championship has gone and even if we get to the play-offs, and on present form that is unlikely, there is not a cat in hells chance of going up. After watching the City for 50 years,I cannot recall even one occasion when they they won a 'life or death match'
We have been rubbish for weeks so what has gone wrong from earlier in the season when the football was great to watch - I think the loss of Harkness has been the major factor but there are other things which worry me that something is wrong at the Deva.Did anyone notice that Steve Bleasdale was very quiet (by his standards) yesterday and MW scarcely popped his head out of the dug-out. Where was the passion?
Why does MW insist on subbing Sugden - I mentioned weeks ago that MW was in danger of destroying the lad's confidence and it seems that I am going to be proved correct - It is a long time since Suggs scored and be the danger man we know he can be.
MW has done a lot for this club and I hope he continues to do so, but as a man-manager he leaves a lot to be desired. He sees things in black and white and is too dogmatic to give players like Brodie a chance, and of course there is a question about his judgement when it comes to signing 'quality' players e.g. Brady, Cameron etc.
We must have a mid-field player who can hold the ball, dictate the play and feed Clare and Sugden and as Raging Blue rightly says, the mid-field is no better than that of 12 months ago.
it seems strange that we have two of the best strikers and arguably the best defence in the Conference and yet fail to dominate against bunches of part-timers.
Call me pessimistic if you like, but I repeat we will not go up this season and I am afraid it will be harder still next season. We don't know who will be relegated, but as tables stand today, the nightmare scenario is that Swansea and Bristol Rovers will come down and they are big clubs who should have no difficulty in regaining league status. Also to be promoted will be Accrington and Aldershot, both former league clubs who are capable of getting better gates than we are.
I will continue to support the City come what may but I am afraid they will be in the Conference next season and for quite a while.
