My husband when he came out of his coming he had the feeding tube in his nose then they put the PEG in his stomach becasue his food was going to his lungs but it bothered him so much & he ws getting an infection he would eat they even used to pour mylanta and stuff like that down it and it didn't help, so they fed him regular and the speech therapist helped so he wouldn't choke maybe you should talk to the speech therapist. Today with the PEG out he has trouble with everything he eats ever they put that thing in him, maybe thats why your mom wants to just eat. Just a thought.
