On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. Eastern Time, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs, announced FEMA. The national test is taking place in coordination with FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The sound will play for one minute. There is no action required as this is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years.
