Posted by Jon Kotas Will the stem reconstitute itself? What care should I provide for it until then? Thanks for your help!

: What species is this?

This was my middelburgensis seedling, approximately 2 years old. I got very suspicious when a brand new leaf suddenly died. I removed the plant from its container and noticed that the taproot & root systems were a healthy white color but the upper stem had a sickening spongy feel when I squeezed it. I cut the upper stem and discovered it had completely rotted. I then had to cut approximately 1/3 down into the taproot to remove all traces of fungal infection. I soaked it in fungicide for a day and sealed it. It is now recovering in perlite.
