: I bought 2 sagos when in Myrtle Beach,
: SC. this past May. I live in MD
: (zone 6) & have them potted. I
: am now seeing a tiny brown hard
: covered seed-like thing attaching to
: the underside of the leaves. When I
: remove one, there is white powdery
: substance within this seed thing.
: My sagos are still a deep green. I
: treated with Orthenex systemic
: garden insect & diseas control
: (contains acephate & triforine.
: But the brown seeds are still there.
: Is this some kind of a scale
: disease? What is it & how do I
: get rid of it? I will be moving the
: plants indoor soon & don't want
: to bring in any bugs.

It is hard to say what you have, but you did the right first thing. What is the size of this thing? Are they hanging down on the leaf, or are they attached to the leaf flush like a scale would be? How many of these things are there? If they are hanging, I have seen, but not very often, things like egg sacks that were about 1/2 inch that come from insects that will later hatch into who knows what. Spiders do that too, but that would only be something like 1 oe 2. Let me know, and if we can't figure something, are you able to take a picture and send it by e-mail? You might not be able to attach it here on the forum, but I could check it out by e-mail. Tom
