: Hi. I bough a Revoluta in Spring
: this
: year. It was just a caudex, about 1
: foot tall. About one month after
: planting in a pot it flushed a nice
: set of leaves. Yesterday I noticed
: it was leaning in it's pot and it
: appears that is hasn't grown any
: roots over the summer. Is this
: something to worry about? Is there
: any way to encourage root growth. I
: was going to put it in an unheated
: green house over winter. I'm in
: England and rarely get temps beloe
: -3 centigrade .
:
: You need to read my article in my
: most asked questions section in my
: linked website about offsets and you
: will understand what needs to be
: done. It is possible for your plant
: to die if it has lots of leaves and
: no roots. If you really have NO
: roots, I would cut the leaves off
: and put in the soil something like
: triple super phosphate (0-46-0) and
: that will stimulate more root
: growth. Naything like that with a
: big middle number is good. If you
: wanted to use a water soluble, you
: could wet the stem with it to see if
: that helps because you really
: wouldn't have all that many roots to
: take in a granular fertilizer.

Tom Thanks fo ryour advice. When I say "No roots" - it does have just a few, but would easily fit in a pot the same diameter as the caudex. When I bought it it appeared to have been growing in coarse sawdust (?). I washed all this off and dusted with Sulphur powder an planetd in a coarse mix. As I say, plent of leaves but no roots. I've now removed the leaves and repotted in perlite. I think I'll treat it as an offset as you said. Many thanks
