I will try to do a kind of a "nest" around the seed so the shell can absorb some humidity ... but I saw yesterday that there is a tiny little leaf coming out on one of them !
Thank you Tom for your advice.

: I have tried germinating before the
: cycas revoluta with no problem. This
: one is giving me a hard time. Can
: you help me please ? The bottom of
: the nut opened up with a tap root. I
: planted them and they got rotten. So
: I thought the medium is not drying
: fast enough. I tried again.
: same scenario except I planted it
: this time in half perlite half
: Miracle gro. Nothing is happening.
: Am I being too impatient ? They are
: in my greenhouse, warm, cooler at
: night, shaded from the bright sun,
: in a pot set on pebbles covered with
: water. The seed/nut is on the top on
: the light medium (it still has its
: hard shell on). Should I cover it
: with a plastic ? Should the seed be
: more burried ? I had 10 seeds...I am
: down to 3 and I would love to do not
: loose these last ones :-)
: Thank you very much for your kind
: help. Nicole

: It sounds like your medium is
: better, but the seed is not
: absorbing enough moisture to sprout
: being totally above the medium. I
: bury mine half way down, but so that
: the crack in the shell where the
: seed will split open is not buried
: in the medium. That way it absorbs
: enough moisture, but there is less
: chance of a fungus getting into the
: crack in the seed.
