I have 1 and 3 gallon potted pups I left sitting on mulched ground for too long. They have grown roots out of the pots and into the mulch/soil. I can easily pick them up as the roots can't hold onto the mulch very well. Can I safely trim the roots to avoid potting up too early to the next size? Root size varies from 2 to 10 inches long. Some have multiple roots exposed. They sure grew legs fast.
