We are new parents to a sago plam that sprouted an 18" cone, vertically, from the center of the leaf hub. It appeared to be quite healthy but is now drying out. I assume this is a dying pollen cone? We never had any plants like this and are really in the dark about care and feeding. I read in a post we can cut off the cone. How and when? Does this expose the center to insects or disease? Thanks.
