Posted by Tom Broome on 7/31/2005, 9:42 pm, in reply to "CYCAS REVOLUTA" --Previous Message-- Yes, both male and female plants can produce offsets, but certain plants have a tendency to produce more offsets than other plants. I don't suggest this, but a damaged plant will produce offsets faster, so when you remove offsets, more offsets will be produced later from those wounds. WHEN DO THEY MATURE 2 I have seen Cycas revoluta plants produce offsets when they have a stem as small as 4 inches in diameter, they are usually just too small to see when the plants are planted in the ground. WHY Cycads certainly do produce cones while in pots. I have male and femal plants of 40 different species and ALL of them are in containers. IS IT NECESSARY 2 HAVE That is a good question. Some people feel that this plant is a mutatation and can not be carried by seed. Have you had a seed produce a plant that looks like 'area'should look like? If so, I would imagine that it would be needed to have both parents be this type. ARE ALLWHITE

Now that is a bunch of question, I will have to deal with these one at a time:
: SIR,I HAVE A FEW DOUBTS 2 ASK
: U.CAN WE EXPECT SUCKERS AT THE BASE
: OF ALL PLANTS IRRESPECTIVE OF
: THEIR SEX?
: PRODUCE OFFSHOOTS OR SUCKERS?
: DONT THEY PRODUCE CONES OR SEEDS
: WHEN POTTED ?
: BOTH SEXES OF THE AUREA 2 PRODUCE
: TRUE AUREA SEEDLINGS?
: ALBINO CULTIVARS AVAILABLE
: ANYWHERE?????
:
All white cultivars that never get green are not in cultivation becuase they can't survive without chloraphyll. Plants that are like this when they germinate usually die when the seed that is attached is used up, or falls off the seedling.
