I am not an expert on this kind of thing. Ask me a cultivation question, and I'm good, but to give you something like a date family tree and stuff like that is way beyond anything I know of. I can say this though. I have heard from a few cycad fossil people that are outraged at this new paper that has come out and there are people out in the world that are putting together information, that they say will prove that person was wrong. So, like with taxonomy, I'm not going to get in the middle of those people's argument either. I see there are many forums and groups that have got all worked up about this new paper, but just becasue it is written somewhere doesn't always mean its right. I know I have seen the majority of cycad books over the years that had outright mistakes in them, which normally came from someone just writing down what others had told them without checking out the facts for themselves, or to test what they had been told before saying that was how it works. It will be interesting to watch what turns up over time with this one.
