Hi Tom,
I looked through most of the questions on the board and haven't seen my exact situation addressed. I had a cycad (I think it was C. panzihuaensis, but not certain) that had the apex rot a couple of years ago. Anyway, I dug up the caudex because it still felt firm but for the apex. I've kept it in a pot all this time and a couple of weeks ago I notice new growth starting from the near the top close to where the apex was (not from the base of the caudex). It appears to be producing or about to produce new growth, i.e. a small flush, on three different parts of the caudex. My questions are: What should I do with it now? Do I just leave it and let it grow from these new growth points? Would this weaken the plant in the future as they got larger or would it just form a multi-headed caudex? Or do these new areas of growth need to be removed and rooted on their own? If so, how best to do that without destroying the new growth? Thanks for your expertise in this area. Ron
