A pH of 7.5 would be slightly alkaline not acidic. I haven't seen these plants show a special need for alkaline soils even though that is what they get in many of our coastal areas.
As far as chemistry goes, when the soil SI slightly acidic, like around 6.5, then that is when everything starts to work well and the plants use fertilizer applications better and take up materials easier. That goes for most plants for that matter.
So except for the 7.5 part, the answer to the rest of the question is yes, definitely.
