Tom
I just cannot overwinter zamias in the uk. I grow a large mix of cycas dioons and macrozamias with a few encephalartos in a large poly tunnel. Apart from some mouse damage to encephalartos seedlings they allreally thrive an I have had very few losses even this winter.
However I cannot seem to get zamias to survive the winter. I am talking seedlings of pumila furfuracea and fischerii. I have grown them inall sorts of media and they seem to sulk in our long winters and just rot even if I keep them frost free. I have had a couple of fischerii survive this winter in the ground for their second winter. Am I wasting my time trying to grow these in the uk even under polythene. Many thanks
