Thanks Tom, I'm glad to hear that. I purchased a little one ($15) and was hoping it'd have a few hardy genes. I have a list of things I'd like get from you but I'm replacing flooring right now and thats consuming $$$$$. Unfortunately, the existing carpet was so bad I had to do it now. But this too shall pass and I'll be able to send some of my unobligated income your way! Just a matter of time.

: Tom,
: Encephalartos ferox is a tropical
: species. How cold sensitive is it?
: Do you have to keep it inside
: greenhouses for it to endure winter
: @ your nursery?
:
: They certainly were burnt back
: this last season, but I have had
: several outside that don't get
: burned very often under thick tree
: cover. Out in the open, but under the
: edge of a tree, they will usually
: start burning at about 23F. Deep
: under some trees over by the red
: gingers I had, that large ferox
: hasn't burned until it got below
: 19F. They CAN get frost damage, so
: if you plant them under a good oak
: tree, they will be good until it
: gets below about 20F. So they aren't
: as tropical as some may think.
