Dioon edule is a good choice. They will get to be large as well but it takes about 3 times as long. If you bought a 3 gallon plant right now, it would probably take about 10 to 12 years to get to the size of the sago on the left. Some of the thinner leaflet coonties would work too. They might get to be about 4 feet across over time, but that doesn't look like a problem on the right side, at least. They won't get all that tall either. To be honest, I really don't know of a full sun ceratozamia that would fit in the smaller than 4 feet size. The hildeas would hold up but I think they would get washed out looking in all day full sun.
