substitute for sagos

I'm looking for ideas for replacing my sagos...someday, if they get too big for the spot they're in. It would have to be cold-hardy (I'm in zone 8) and able to take full sun. My first thought was Dioon edule, which I have a few seedlings of, but I imagine they would eventually get just as big. I've heard some of the Ceratozamias are hardy enough, but not having run across any besides a few photos on the internet, could they hold their own as a specimen plant in full sun?
