This is YOUR plant? For some reason, I think that plant looks familiar. Anyway, Bart Schutzman at U of F is a zamia taxonomist. He told me that during his research for his thesis on zamias he found out that Zamia loddigesii can very well be an ancient hybrid between Z. furfuracea and Z. spartea. If you are familiar with that plant, it has very thin leaflets where furfuraceas have fairly wide leaflets. What we are seeing is the variability within this species so we see very wide loddigesiis and very thin ones and everything in between. If that plant is correctly named, it is a farily wide laf type. My wide leaf type also gets quite large. If it is a hybrid between loddigesii and furfuracea it might not be very obvious, but if the cones have real long peduncles and larger cones, it is pretty much a hybrid. If the cones are smaller and have short peduncles, then it should be labeled properly.
