Hello Tom,
i noticed that vermiculite becomes too wet
very fast - perlite feels most of the time too dry.
I only found the page http://www.plantapalm.com/Vce/horticulture/horticulture.htm - i could not find a link
in the header. The article http://www.plantapalm.com/Vce/horticulture/seeds.htm very impressive i found 2 weeks before but i miss the 2. one.
Could you send me the links via email.
Thank you kind regards
Markus

: Hello ,
: i got some zamia. cycas and
: encephalartos seeds. I put them in
: moist vermiculite using community
: pots and water them with a
: "broadband" fungicide. I
: read the article "Potting Up
: Cycad Seedlings by Phil Bergman
: " which was very inspirating. A
: few of the Zamia seeds are
: sprouting - can i leave them in the
: pot till the first leaf
: appear or do i have them repot in an
: other kind of grow media.Do the
: seeds grow the first leaf without
: fertilizer? Whats the best way to
: germinate the seeds till step
: Potting Up Cycad Seedlings.
: Thank you for help

: You should read both my germination
: articles on my website which is
: linked in the header. You can do
: things several ways, but the article
: talks about what I do. But to answer
: a couple quick ones, the inside of
: the seed feeds the new plant before
: it produces a couple of leaves, that
: is why sometimes older seeds might
: sprout but then the plant dies. I
: don't like vermiculite because it
: keeps cycads too wet, so me, I would
: take them out of that stuff and use
: something that is not so wet, like
: coarse sand, or pumice and then I
: keep the seedlings in a community
: pot for as long as 2 years.
