: I have a Sago that is pretty old and
: have never really paid attention to
: the pups, but recently decided to
: try and grow some of the pups. There
: is over 30 pups on the mom Sago
: ranging from 1.5" diameter to
: 5" in diameter and my question
: is, is there a limit to how many
: pups you can take off at a time?
: Will taking to many possibly kill
: the mom Sago? And another question,
: my father never cut off the pups of
: his Sago he just pulled them from
: the mom Sago and never treated the
: mom Sago with fungicide and the mom
: Sago never died, is this a safe
: practice? I live in the central
: valley in California if that matters
: at all. Thanks in advance
: everybody!!

You should read my article on removing and growing offsets in my article which is on my linked website, check out the most asked questions. Real fast though, I would NEVER pull off offsets for reasons mentioned in the article. As long as you treat all wounds on the parent plant as well as the offsets, you would usually be ok about hurting the parent plant, but sure, the more wounds you make, the more chances of something going wrong, but in general, you should be just fine. I wouldn't take the smaller offsets anyway, I usually wait till they are close to 4 inches.
