: I have heard that C. debaoensis is
: rather cold hardy, down to the lower
: 20s F. Any experience on this? I
: picked up what I hope is a C.
: debaoensis and was planning on
: gifting it to a friend who has a
: great, protected spot to plant it at
: his new house. We live in
: Gainesville, FL.
The lowest I had tested mine was 21F under oak trees and they had no leaf damage at all. I just had 18 in the same area and I have maybe 30% burn under the trees, but the ones out in the open are torched. They will all come back, so they survived 18F and would survive even lower if the stems are covered with dirt or mulch during thre worst freeze events.

: Thanks for the great forum. I've
: been mulching my cycads with coffee
: grounds for two years and have been
: scale free, even on a plant that
: originally had scale. Seems to have
: cured the mealy bug problem I had on
: my bamboo as well. Unfortunately
: CAS is rampant in my neighborhood
: and throughout the city.
:I am glad I was able to help for sure!
